On writing a poem...

I scribbled down lines

of feeble hopes

and romantic delusions.

But each time, I ended up

with mere fleeting images

and confused allusions.

I penned my thoughts

but words do not capture

that silent leap of the heart

and that moment of pleasure

from a smile.

So, I quit writing the poem.

Just then, the poem scribbled down

its own lines and rhythm,

slowly painting the image

i’ve tried so hard to create.

Serenading me with the

sweet symphony of

words, meek and unadorned;

Like when you say

“i love you”
without

the accompaniment of

a guitar, beneath

a starless sky.

p.s.: this is a poem that i wrote more or less a couple of years ago (2006). sorry for the mushy content, it was intended to be a love poem. *rolls eyes*
